GSMA Industry Services Launches Circularity Services, with One for One
On 12 August 2026, the GSMA launched Circularity Services, a new part of its Industry Services portfolio built to help mobile operators and ecosystem partners extend device lifecycles, reduce e-waste and recover value from assets already in circulation.
Two Partners, Two Ends of the Device Lifecycle
Circularity Services covers the device journey from both directions.
One for One works at the front end, where devices enter the market. For every new product an operator, OEM or channel partner sells, leases or upgrades, one expired device is collected and responsibly recycled on the customer’s behalf. It is designed to fit into existing device propositions without adding operational complexity for the organisation or the end user.
RGX works at the other end of the device lifecycle. Its platform is a neutral online marketplace for enterprise asset disposition, connecting organisations with service providers through a single automated system so that redundant devices and hardware can be competitively bid on rather than written off.
With the launch of these two services in its portfolio, GSMA Industry Services is enabling the mobile ecosystem to approach waste reduction from a new perspective — moving beyond its traditional framing as a sustainability challenge to unlock tangible commercial and operational benefits.
The Commercial Case Comes First
The clearest signal in this launch is the framing. Circularity Services is positioned as a commercial offer, a response to operators looking for practical ways to meet sustainability commitments and improve commercial performance at the same time.
“Circularity is not just a sustainability objective; it is increasingly becoming a business opportunity for the mobile industry. We want to make it easier for operators and ecosystem partners to access practical services that can create customer value, support new propositions, generate new income streams and reduce operational spending while helping the industry make better use of the devices and materials already in circulation. One for One is a strong example of that approach, linking new device activity to responsible recovery in a way that companies can integrate into their own commercial models.”

Made Accessible to the Wider Ecosystem
One for One has been applied by technology and telecom brands across four continents, linking more than 8 million devices to the collection and responsible recycling of expired phones. Vodafone, Samsung, T-Mobile and Google have all used the service in their own commercial contexts.
With GSMA’s reach and recognition, operators and ecosystem partners can now access the service through the industry body they already work with, alongside a second circularity partner, within a portfolio built on vetted solutions.
Turning Intent Into Action
Closing the Loop works with each partner to tailor One for One to their commercial context, customer audience and sustainability objectives, whether the goal is stronger customer engagement, a differentiated device offer, or performance on waste reduction results.
“GSMA Industry Services gives the mobile sector a great route to turn good intentions into immediate actions that make business sense. One for One has shown that waste reduction can be made visible, understandable and relevant to customers. Our role is to help the tech industry turn waste reduction into a customer-centric and business supporting service.”
Joost de Kluijver, - CEO - Closing the Loop
The circular economy is not built by one company, or one service. It is built when the industry’s shared infrastructure starts treating circularity as standard. This launch is a step in that direction.
